Very emotional for me this old videos, because i was 11 at this time and just got my first homecomputer. So i felt the hype of those new thingies, wich changed the computer landscape forever. It was the first own performed keynotes of Steve Jobs. The first film from 1983 shows the introduction from the sensational Apple-Ad "1984" and the power of the young Steve. In the second movie he is presenting a revolution for this time. Remember it was 1984 ! All what you see was fresh, futuristic and emotional for the audience. You will see the presentation of the first Mouse, 3,5" Disc and the software revolution by performing a GUI instead of a command line. Steve was very overhelmed by the standing ovations and reactions of the people. The genesis of Apple hype began with this. A classic - definitely !

Cool, a classic bit of history.
I remember watching that live in January 1984. I was a student at Drexel university, and I knew each one of my class would be getting a mac within a few more days. After years of using green and amber text only terminals like vt-100's the mac was a revolution. it changed everything.
I was at this event. It was a BCS (Boston Computer Society) meeting that my father took me to (I was 12 at the time). I will never forget the sound of several thousand people gasping in unison at each new feature. Truly the greatest presentation I have ever seen.
That said, everyone needs to stop kissing Steve's ass. He was my hero when I attended that conference. But as an adult it's much easier to see what an egotistical jackass he really is.
I don't think people are kissing his ass, Eric. They're just greatful to be making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year based around a machine that he created.
I don't care if Jobs is egotistical or not. I owe my millions to him, and for that he can be a full dickhead egotistical jackass. Or any other name.

It is very important to remember the primitive computer world that existed prior. It was all fixed font typwriter face glowing letters on a dark screen. That was the entire world.
Now if that is the entire world, imagine seeing as an introduction to a new computer the presentation of full screen Black on White fantastically crisp Times Roman letters scrolling right to left across the screen.
This was totally mindblowing. Jaw dropping. Regardless of who made the product. Nevermind the rest of the product features, which follow logically from the capabilities to do this first effect. The speech synthesis was a nice extra touch.
The presentation made every other personal computer obsolete, instantly.
The artful presentation is just extra brownie points.
Can you imagine the reaction At IBM?
Can you imagine what kind of presentation IBM would have put on if they had invented it first?
I doubt it would have been so artful.
And at that time IBM was the big bad monster to be beaten. Not Microsoft, and certainly not Apple. Their business strategy was to let someone else develop a market, then they would muscle in to take it over. Apple was the heroic little guy. Their famous mistakes came later.
